FloTennis and UTR Stage an “Academy Showdown”

Universal Tennis (UTR) continues to expand its organization of tennis events. UTR has now partnered with FloTennis, which offers live streaming of tennis matches, to put on the FloTennis Junior Duals at the Lake Norman Tennis Center in Mooresville, North Carolina. The tournament, which will accept up to 12 teams, will take place March 31 through April 2. Many teams will be representing tennis academies where high-level juniors go to develop their games. There will be three flights of four teams each. UTR Power 6 ratings will sort the teams into evenly matched flights. This will assure an abundance of level-based play and exciting, close contests. Competitors will receive UTR credit for all matches played. The teams will each play a three-match round robin within their flights, with each team match structured as is an NCAA tennis match (seven points available including one doubles point and six singles points, with four points needed to win). The icebreaker will be a Friday night player function that will include educational presentations from UTR as well as some tennis coaches, with parents welcome.
